Digital Raffle for Martin House
Our chosen charity here at Peardrop Creative is Martin House, its a cause we are truly passionate about and we wanted to find a way to apply our skills to raising money for them. Martin House is a Yorkshire based charity that provides family-led care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We chose to support them after experiencing first hand the difference they make to the lives of children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
They support families across West, North and East Yorkshire and accept referrals for children and young people aged 0-19 years old, including babies diagnosed in the antenatal stages. the hospice is a place for children, young people and their families to stay from time to time during their journey ti find support, rest and get practical help and advice. The atmosphere is friendly, lively, fun and provides a break that is both peaceful and laughter filled.
As well as having the hospice to provide much needed breaks, Martin House have a community team to support families both in their own homes and while in hospital. They can help families spend quality time together and make informed, supported decisions about their child’s health. their good work doesn’t stop there, they also provide a bereavement service should the worst happen, to help support families through what is an unimaginable time. This can be as part of a group or through one to one sessions. Peardrop’s staff member who has used the services Martin House provides says “Seeing your child in a medical setting is distressing, it’s hard to see past all the machines, Martin House takes this away so you can spend quality time with your child.”
“When my son was on end of life care, Martin House gave us more freedom than a hospital would have so that we were able to have a small birthday party with him before he passed away. The memories will always be slightly painful, but thanks to Martin House I remember a lot of good times.”
To help us raise money for Martin House we have developed a digital raffle. An advantage of having the raffle online is that the tickets can be bought from anywhere in the UK which should help us raise as much money as possible. The raffle will be drawn automatically on 1st June 2020, the raffle programme will use a random number generator to select the winners and each winner will be notified via text and e-mail and asked to contact Peardrop Creative to arrange collection, if local, or postage of their prize. Peardrop Creative will be covering the costs of the text messages sent to the winners and any postage, so all it costs the entrants is the price of the ticket(s). 100% of the money raised from raffle ticket sales is given to Martin House.
The prizes up for grabs so far are; a temple spa gift set, a voucher for a set of Shellac nails, a jar of peardrops with a voucher for 1 hour of design work by Peardrop Creative, a wax warmer and some wax melts and a few bottles of wine. We are still gathering prizes so if you would like to donate a prize, or know someone that would please get in touch. Over the coming months there will a blog post written and shared about each prize and which wonderful company has donated it along with a link to their website/social media, so if there’s a prize you have your eye on but don’t win you’ll be able to have a look at what that company offers.
